On the Śāstra's text, "However, among all pratyekabuddhas... is subsequently named a pratyekajina": From here below explains the two kinds of pratyekabuddha. The rhinoceros-horn-like (khaḍgaviṣāṇakalpa) refers to appearing in a world without a Buddha and arising entirely solitary. The group-living (vargacārin) pratyekabuddha was previously a śrāvaka at the fruit of stream-entry (srotāpanna); later, in a time without a Buddha, they advance to attain the superior fruit, and are therefore named a pratyekabuddha. This is one explanation.
