The Śāstra [states], from "Greed and so forth ought not" up to "because they have not performed action": this explains that the three mental karmapathas are not prayogas. The Nyāyānusāra states: "Other masters say: Greed and so forth ought not to be able to act as prayoga; a prayoga is not accomplished merely by the arising of mind, because they have not performed action. Those who speak thus [should know that], although greed and so forth are not of the nature of performed action, when that greed and so forth arise with an object as condition, they are not without causal efficacy. Through having causal efficacy, they obtain the designation prayoga, because they expediently induce the various karmapathas." In accordance with the Nyāyānusāra, taking greed and so forth as also serving as prayoga is correct.
