The Śāstra says: "Herein, the dharma of warmth... future." Fourth, this explains the quantity of aspects cultivated through practice and acquisition during the initial stage of warmth. Because in the initial stage one advances the wholesome roots, with respect to three truths one only cultivates the mixed application of mindfulness on dharmas. Cultivation through acquisition extends to both general and distinctive contemplation, hence one cultivates four applications of mindfulness. One cultivates the aspects of one's own truth, hence it extends to four aspects. Because there is no collateral cultivation, there are not sixteen aspects. With respect to the truth of cessation, there is only the unmixed application of mindfulness on dharmas, because body, feeling, and mind are absent. The two cultivations are only the application of mindfulness on dharmas; because there is no collateral cultivation, one does not cultivate the four applications of mindfulness of the other truths.
