On the Śāstra's statement: "Venerable Vasumitra … equal-and-immediate condition": this recounts a divergent explanation. Because within a single body, there is first an unbroken continuity of a single nourished matter (aupacayika-rūpa), and subsequently a second nourished matter arises without obstructing or harming [the first], it is not established as an equal-and-immediate condition. The intention of this master's explanation is that because it lacks the sense of clearing the way and is confused and unequal, it is not established as an equal-and-immediate condition.
