On the Śāstra's statement: "If when this dharma arises … equal-and-immediate condition": this is the explanation. That is, although dharmas have no before and after, they have mutual connection. Because dharmas such as the vajropama-samādhi and kṣayajñāna are mutually connected, they arise one right after the other. For instance, prior to the stage of the supreme mundane dharma and the patient acceptance of the dharma of suffering, the state of affairs is fixed, but not the kṣaṇas. There are many [moments of] patient acceptance of the dharma of suffering whose before and after are not yet fixed; only upon reaching the supreme patient acceptance are the kṣaṇas fixed. This shows that the supreme mundane dharma is definitely prior to all patient acceptances of the dharma of suffering, because upon reaching the phase of arising, the supreme mundane dharma is definitively in front.
