On the Śāstra's 'It must go to that destination... definitely does not go elsewhere': this clarifies certainty. Thus the Vibhāṣā says: 'The Dārṣṭāntikas say that the intermediate state can change [its destination]. The Abhidharmikas say: Regarding realm, destination, and place of birth, the intermediate state can never change, because the karma that projects the intermediate state is exceedingly forceful.' The Nyāyānusāra says: 'Regarding realm, destination, and place of birth, none can change. That is, it is definite that there is no case where an intermediate existence of the form realm ceases and an intermediate existence of the desire realm is born, nor vice versa, because this and the birth existence are projected by one single karma.'
