"Sumeru is situated in the center (here translated as Wondrously High),
next is Yugaṃdhara (here translated as Pair-Bearing; on the mountain peak are two pairs of tracks, and because the mountain can bear them, it is named thus),
Mount Īṣādhara (here translated as Axle-Bearing; the mountain peaks tower aloft like chariot axles, and it is because the mountain can bear them),
Mount Khadiraka (Khadiraka is the name of a tree in the Western Regions; there is also this tree in the southern part of this land, where it is called the Danmu mountain; the jewel trees on the mountain resemble it in shape, hence it is named after them),
Mount Sudarśana (here translated as Beautiful to Behold; those who behold it praise it as beautiful),
Aśvakarṇa (here translated as Horse-Ear; the shape of the mountain resembles one),
Mount Vinataka (here translated as Elephant-Trunk; the shape of the mountain resembles one),
Mount Nemindhara (this is the name of a fish; that fish has a pointed snout, and the shape of the mountain resembles it)."
