"Namely, by nature, association": below follows the itemised explanation. First, conducive to feeling by intrinsic nature: having the three feelings as its essence; because its intrinsic nature is feeling, its intrinsic nature does not conflict [with feeling], hence it is called conducive to feeling. Second, conducive to feeling by association: having contact (sparśa) as its essence; contact being associated with feeling is called conducive to feeling by association, as the sūtra says: "contact conducive to pleasant feeling," and so forth in detail.
