16.16

釋曰：有說地獄受，餘欲業黑雜者，有餘師說：地獄受業名為黑黑業，餘欲界業，若善若惡皆名雜業。以地獄異熟唯不善業感故，順彼受名黑黑業；餘欲界異熟，通善惡業感故，順彼受名黑白業。

Explanation: [Regarding] 'some say that experienced in hell, and other desire karma is black and mixed': other masters say that karma experienced in hell is called black-black karma, while the remaining karma of the desire realm, whether wholesome or unwholesome, is called mixed karma. Because the maturation of hell is caused solely by unwholesome karma, [karma] leading to its experience is called black-black karma; because other maturations of the desire realm are caused by both wholesome and unwholesome karma, [karma] leading to their experience is called black-and-white karma.
