17.7

釋曰：唯邪見斷善者，唯有上品圓滿邪見能斷善根。然本論中，說貪、瞋、癡三不善根能斷善者，由不善根能引邪見故，邪見斷推在彼根。如火燒村，火由賊起，故世間說被賊燒村。

The explanation says: Regarding "only wrong view severs the roots of good," only supreme, fully developed wrong view can sever the roots of good. However, where the root treatise says that the three unwholesome roots of greed, hatred, and delusion can sever the roots of good, this is because unwholesome roots can induce wrong view, so the severing by wrong view is attributed to those roots. It is like a fire burning a village: because the fire was set by thieves, the world says the village was burned by thieves.
