18.101

釋曰：主異由信等者，謂施主異，由有信等七種聖財差別功德也，一深信、二持戒、三多聞、四智慧、五捨施、六慚、七愧。或有具七，或有不具，故名主異。由主異故，施之與果俱有差別。

The commentary says: "Distinction in the giver is due to faith and so forth" means that distinctions in the giver are due to the distinct virtues of the seven noble treasures of faith and so forth: 1. deep faith, 2. maintaining discipline, 3. extensive learning, 4. wisdom, 5. relinquishing and giving, 6. shame (hrī), 7. modesty (apatrāpya). Some possess all seven and some do not possess them all, hence the "distinction in the giver." Because the giver is distinct, both the giving and the fruit are distinct.
