"Because it operates on the internal sensory door" explains the name "existence-greed". Greed in the upper two realms mostly operates relying on an internal sensory door and only in small part operates directed toward an external sensory door; therefore, the name "existence-greed" is established. The internal sensory door is meditative absorption: greed arises taking meditative absorption as its object, taking the internal as its doorway, and is called "operating on the internal sensory door"; that is to say, the upper two realms mostly give rise to greed for meditative absorption. "In small part operates directed toward an external sensory door" means that it also takes external sensory objects—forms, sounds, tastes, tangibles, and dharmas—as its objects.
