The commentary says: The eye in its entirety is a view, because it visually inspects forms. One portion of the dharma-dhātu consisting of eight kinds is called views, namely: the five defiled views, beginning with the view of individuality (satkāyadṛṣṭi); sixth, worldly right view, which is the wholesome, defiled (sāsrava) wisdom associated with the mental consciousness; seventh, the right view of those in training (śaikṣa), which refers to all undefiled (anāsrava) views in the person of a śaikṣa; eighth, the right view of those beyond training (aśaikṣa), which refers to all undefiled views in the person of an aśaikṣa. These eight are wisdom (prajñā); because they investigate and deliberate upon objects, they are all called views. Being subsumed under the dharma-dhātu, they are called 'one portion'.
