The commentary says: The great masters of the Abhidharma all say: "Sometimes both eyes see together, because when opening two eyes one sees form clearly, whereas when closing one eye it is not clear; therefore, we know that sometimes two eyes see form." Moreover, when opening one eye and pressing the other eye, one sees two moons and so forth before one; when closing one and pressing one, this does not happen. Therefore, sometimes both eyes see simultaneously. It is not that because the supports are distinct, the consciousness is split into two portions, for it resides without spatial location, and thus is unlike obstructive matter.
