五識依或俱者，或表不定。眼等五識所依有二：一者過去，謂無間意；二者現在眼等五根，識與五根同現在故，名之為俱。或言表此亦依過去，故五識依名或俱也。

"The supports of the five consciousnesses are [past] or simultaneous": 'or' indicates that it is not fixed. The supports of the five consciousnesses, beginning with the eye, are two: first, the past, namely the immediately preceding mind; second, the present five faculties, beginning with the eye. Because consciousness and the five faculties are both present, they are called 'simultaneous'. The word 'or' indicates that it also relies on the past; therefore, the supports of the five consciousnesses are called 'or simultaneous'.
