從此第五，眼等得依名，論云：「何緣識起，俱託二緣，得所依名，在根非境（以根、境為二緣）。」頌曰：
From here [follows] the fifth section, [explaining why] the eye and the others obtain the name of 'basis'. The treatise states: "For what reason, when a consciousness arises mutually dependent on two conditions, does it obtain the name of 'basis' with respect to the faculty and not the object (with faculty and object being the two conditions)?" The verse says:
