賢謂賢和，聖謂聖正，此品廣明，故名分別。就此品中，大文有三：一總明道體性、二明道所證諦、三約道辨人。

"Worthy" (bhadra) means virtuous and harmonious; "noble" (ārya) means noble and correct; this chapter explains them extensively, and is therefore called "Discrimination [of the Nobles and the Path]". Within this chapter, the primary text has three parts: first, a general explanation of the essence of the path; second, an explanation of the truths realized by the path; third, the differentiation of persons in terms of the path.
