且初第一明道體性者，論云：「如是已說煩惱等斷，於九勝位得遍知名，然斷必由道力故得，此所由道其相云何？」頌曰：
First, as for the first, explaining the essence of the path, the treatise says: "Having thus explained the abandonment of defilements and so on, which obtains the name of comprehensive knowledge in nine superior stages; yet abandonment is necessarily obtained by the power of the path. What are the characteristics of this path from which it derives?" The verse says:
