"Six levels": the gate of relying on levels. The four wholesome [roots], heat and the rest, commonly rely on six levels, namely: the threshold, the intermediate, and the four dhyānas. They are absent in the desire realm because it is not a concentrated level. They are also absent in the formless realm: that is to say, heat and the rest are retinue to the path of vision, and because the formless realm has no path of vision, it has no heat and the rest. "Two on seven": "two" refers to heat and the summit. The word "or" reveals the explanation of Master Ghoṣaka, who said that heat and the summit commonly rely on seven levels, adding the desire realm to the previous six levels.
