23.70

釋曰：名隨信法行，由根鈍利別者，見道位中聖者有二：一隨信行、二隨法行，由根鈍利立此二名。若鈍根者，名隨信行，彼於先時隨信他言而行義故。若利根者，名隨法行，彼於先時由自披閱契經等法，隨行義故。

The explanation states: Regarding 'Named follower by faith or follower of Dharma according to the distinction of dull or sharp faculties': in the stage of the path of seeing, there are two kinds of noble beings: first, followers by faith; second, followers of Dharma. These two designations are established according to whether their faculties are dull or sharp. If of dull faculties, one is called a follower by faith, because previously they practiced their understanding following faith in another's words. If of sharp faculties, one is called a follower of Dharma, because previously they practiced their understanding on their own, by reading the sūtras and other dharmas.
