從此第二，明立四果因緣，論云：「若爾，世尊何不具說（問也，何緣世尊唯說四果，不說八十九沙門果耶）？」果雖有多而不說者，頌曰：

Next, second, to explain the causes and conditions for establishing the four fruits, the treatise says: "If so, why did the World-Honoured One not explain them all? (This is a question: for what reason did the World-Honoured One only teach four fruits and not eighty-nine fruits of asceticism?)" Although the fruits are many, they are not taught because—the verse says:
