三四中除二者，三四謂第三、第四靜慮也，中謂中間禪也。此三、四中各三十五，謂除前二即無喜、尋也。

'The intermediate, the third, and the fourth lack two': 'The third and fourth' refers to the third and fourth dhyānas; 'intermediate' refers to the intermediate dhyāna. In these three and four [grounds], there are thirty-five each, because the preceding two are excluded, which means there is no joy or examination.
