餘學六七八者，餘謂餘道，即是練根諸解脫道及加行道並勝進道，故名為餘。有學練根諸解脫道，未離欲者未來修六，謂四諦智、法智、類智；已離欲七更加他心。若加行道，未離欲者未來修七，謂四諦智、法智、類智及世俗智；已離欲八，更加他心。諸勝進道，未離欲者未來修七，已離欲八，如加行說。

[Regarding] "In the remaining, a śaikṣa [cultivates] six, seven, eight": "remaining" refers to the remaining paths, which are the various paths of liberation, preparatory paths, and distinguished paths of training the faculties, hence they are called "remaining." In the various paths of liberation of training the faculties of a śaikṣa, one not yet free from desire cultivates six in the future, namely the knowledges of the four truths, dharma-knowledge, and category-knowledge; one already free from desire [cultivates] seven, adding knowledge of others' minds. In the preparatory paths, one not yet free from desire cultivates seven in the future, namely the knowledges of the four truths, dharma-knowledge, category-knowledge, and conventional knowledge; one already free from desire [cultivates] eight, adding knowledge of others' minds. In the various distinguished paths, one not yet free from desire cultivates seven, and one already free from desire eight, as explained for the preparatory [paths].
