'Outflow' is the category of the five classes [of dharmas]. These name-groups and so forth arise from homogeneous causes; among the five classes, they are exclusively of the nature of outflow (niṣyanda). Because they are not produced by karma, they do not extend to ripening (vipāka). Because they are not material dharmas, they do not extend to the nurtured (aupacayika). 'Indeterminate' is the category of the three natures: they are included exclusively in the unobscured-indeterminate nature. That is, name-groups and so forth arise dependent on sound and are not directly generated by mental force, so they are exclusively indeterminate. Sound is directly generated by mental force, and therefore extends to all three natures.
