9.67

七事亦名果者，除前五支，餘識等七名之為事，是煩惱、業所依事故。如是七事亦名為果，義准餘法即亦名因，謂無明、行為因，識等五為果；愛、取、有為因，生、老死為果。

Regarding "seven entities are also called results": excluding the preceding five links, the remaining seven, such as consciousness, are called "entities" because they are the basis and entities upon which defilement and karma depend. These seven entities are also called "results"; by logical extension from the remaining dharmas, they are also called "causes"—namely, ignorance and formation are the causes, and the five beginning with consciousness are the results; craving, grasping, and existence are the causes, and birth and aging-and-death are the results.
