The commentary says: Acceptance is the path of non-interruption: in terms of the acquisition of the abandonment of defilements, it is not obstructed by the acquisition of defilements; hence it is called 'non-interruption.' Knowledge is the path of liberation: it has already been liberated from the acquisition of defilements, and it arises simultaneously with the acquisition of disjunction; hence it is called 'liberation.' The sequence of acceptance and knowledge in principle must be like this, just as in the world one expels a thief and closes the door: acceptance is like expelling the thief, and knowledge is like closing the door.
