As for "others say there are, because of a treatise": certain western masters say that there are undefiled aspects exceeding these sixteen, on account of what is stated in the Vijñānakāyaśāstra. That treatise says: 'Can a mind not bound [to any realm] distinguish phenomena bound to the desire realm (this is that treatise's question)? Answer: It can distinguish them, namely, as impermanent, suffering, empty, non-self, cause, origin, arising, condition, having such a place, and having such a fact, which are cognitions induced by correct reasoning (the above is the root treatise answering the preceding question).' In the view of the western masters, since that treatise states that there are two distinct aspects—having such a place and having such a fact—apart from the eight aspects such as impermanence, one knows that apart from the sixteen aspects there are distinctly the two undefiled aspects of having such a place and having such a fact.
