"The supernormal knowledges are six, namely psychic power,
Divine eye and ear, knowing another's mind,
Knowledge of past lives, and of the destruction of the outflows;
They are subsumed under wisdom of the path of liberation.
Four are conventional; knowing another's mind has five [knowledges];
Knowledge of the destruction of outflows is like the power.
Five rely on the four dhyānas,
Having one's own and lower grounds as their object.
For disciples, rhinoceros-like ones, and Buddhas,
[The ranges are] two thousand, three thousand, and immeasurable [worlds].
Those never before [practiced] are obtained by preparation;
Those previously cultivated are obtained by detachment.
As for the applications of mindfulness: the first three are the body;
Knowing another's mind has three, and the remaining have four.
The divine eye and ear are indeterminate;
The other four knowledges are solely wholesome."
