"Wholesome [of the form realm] gives rise to eleven": the wholesome of the form realm means that a wholesome mind of the form realm can immediately give rise to eleven minds. Among the twelve minds, only the unimpeded neutral mind of the formless realm is excluded, because in the formless realm there is only the neutral mind born of maturation. Now, a mind born of maturation is not admitted to arise from a different stage; therefore, it does not give rise [to it]. That it can give rise to a defiled mind of the formless realm is stated based on the time of death.
