Third, revealing virtues and functions: the Madhyamaka Śāstra states: 'Because there is the meaning of emptiness, all dharmas are able to be established.' It also states: 'Because all dharmas are empty, there can be the Three Jewels, the Four Truths, and so forth.' The Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra states: 'If all dharmas were not empty, there would be no path and no fruition.' It also states: 'If dharmas existed even by a hair's breadth, then buddhas would not appear in the world.' Such passages all clarify that only because true emptiness exists can there be all dharmas. Furthermore, only by contemplating true emptiness are all practices accomplished; therefore, practices such as the ten perfections are all accomplished through emptiness, and fruitions such as bodhi are all established through emptiness. Therefore, all dharmas are established from this non-abiding of true emptiness. Furthermore, causing all dharmas to be mutually identical and mutually penetrating without impediment or obstruction—these are all the great functions of this approach.
