問：既非佛說，何得然耶？答：由二義故：一、由是彼類，是故彼攝。二、但諸佛說法，有其三種：一、佛自說；二、加他說；三、懸許說。此論則當懸許之類，以《入楞伽經》及《摩耶經》中，佛記龍樹然正法炬，故知懸記許可說也，是故亦入至教量收，達磨藏攝。

Question: Since it was not spoken by the Buddha, how can this be so? Answer: It is due to two meanings: First, because it belongs to that category, it is therefore subsumed under it. Second, the preaching of Dharma by the Buddhas is of three kinds: first, spoken by the Buddha himself; second, spoken through the empowerment of others; third, spoken with advance sanction. This treatise falls under the category of advance sanction. Because in the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra and the Māyā Sūtra the Buddha prophesied that Nāgārjuna would ignite the torch of the true Dharma, one knows that he gave an advance prophecy permitting him to speak; therefore, it is also included within āptāgama and subsumed under the Dharma Piṭaka.
