次明助伴，即諸心所。因位第八，唯遍行五，俱第七識。識論五說，第五說者有十八俱，謂遍行五、四煩惱、八隨煩惱、并別境慧、意識一切，五識如前。若無漏位，心、意、識三，皆得與二十一俱。

Next, the companions are clarified, which are the various mental factors. The eighth in the causal stage is conjoined only with the five omnipresent ones. For the seventh consciousness, the Vijñāna treatise has five accounts; the fifth account holds that eighteen are conjoined, namely, the five omnipresent ones, the four afflictions, the eight secondary afflictions, together with wisdom of the specific-object [factors]. The mental consciousness is conjoined with all of them; the five consciousnesses are as before. In the taintless stage, the three—citta, manas, and vijñāna—can all be conjoined with twenty-one.
