利根者，內自思搆，邪見猛利，不怖眾惡，不生慈愍，便斷善根，此名因力，而斷善根，即是五緣。若更逢惡友，順惡意樂，斷善根，此名緣力，而斷善根，具有六緣。

"Sharp faculties" means that one deliberates internally, one's wrong views are fierce and sharp, one does not dread various evils, and does not give rise to kindness and compassion, thereby severing the roots of goodness; this is called the force of cause severing the roots of goodness, which consists of the five conditions. If one further encounters an evil friend and follows an evil aspiration to sever the roots of goodness, this is called the force of conditions severing the roots of goodness, fully possessing the six conditions.
