Gandharva: here translated as 'fragrance seeker and goer', because it seeks the fragrance of the place where it is to be born and goes there; or because it only eats fragrances, being sustained by fragrance; just as those of Nirmāṇarati are named fragrance seekers. This applies only to the desire realm; as for why it is not named thus in the form realm: although they do not seek fragrance there, being of the category of fragrance seekers they are named fragrance seekers; they give rise to love upon seeing the place of birth, but do not smell fragrance, as they themselves lack nose consciousness and there is no fragrance at the place of birth.
