菩薩地亦言：劫有二種：一、是日月歲數，二、是阿僧祇；二、增減劫，即是飢病刀，小三災劫名為中劫；三、二十劫為一劫，即梵眾天壽量；四、四十劫為一劫，即梵前益天壽量；五、六十劫為一劫，即大梵天壽量；六、八十劫為一劫，即大災劫；七、七大為一劫，即水災劫；八、七水為一劫，即風災劫；九、三大阿僧祇劫。

The Bodhisattvabhūmi also states: "There are two kinds of kalpas: first, reckoning by days, months, and years; second, asaṃkhyeyas. Second, the kalpas of increase and decrease, which are the small three disasters of famine, pestilence, and swords, are called intermediate kalpas. Third, twenty kalpas making one kalpa, which is the lifespan of the Brahmakāyika heaven. Fourth, forty kalpas making one kalpa, which is the lifespan of the heavens benefiting before Brahmā. Fifth, sixty kalpas making one kalpa, which is the lifespan of the Mahābrahmā heaven. Sixth, eighty kalpas making one kalpa, which is a great disaster kalpa. Seventh, seven great [disaster kalpas] making one kalpa, which is a water disaster kalpa. Eighth, seven water [disaster kalpas] making one kalpa, which is a wind disaster kalpa. Ninth, three great asaṃkhyeya kalpas."
