若依小乘，住劫中前十九，有小三災，以第二十劫，唯有一上增而非減，故無災起。今依大乘，有二十減、二十增，故二十劫皆有小災現。

According to the Hīnayāna, the first nineteen of the dwelling kalpas have the three small calamities, because the twentieth kalpa has only a single ascent and no decrease, and hence no calamity arises. Now according to the Mahāyāna, there are twenty decreases and twenty increases, and therefore all twenty kalpas manifest small calamities.
