奘法師云：此不相違，初一唯減者，是減中最初，已前無增，故云初一唯減。後一唯增者，第二十住中，唯增即滿，向後更不磷減，故言後一唯增。

Master Xuanzang says: 'These do not contradict each other. The first having only a decrease refers to it being the very beginning among decreases, with no increase prior to it; hence it is said that the first has only a decrease. The last having only an increase means that in the twentieth dwelling kalpa, it is completed simply by increasing, without subsequently decreasing further; hence it is said that the last has only an increase.'
