自下第五約差別等德以辨菩提，先辨實德即同，次明化相有別，後明轉依女身能證菩提，問若言女身不證菩提者，何故法華說龍女成佛等，云何通，義曰，然彼龍女亦變成男然後成佛，非以女身而成佛也，上來五段總是第一出菩提體。

From here below, the fifth [section] discriminates bodhi in terms of differentiated and other qualities: first, discriminating the real qualities, which are identical; next, explaining that the manifested aspects have differences; finally, explaining that through transformation of the basis (āśrayaparavṛtti) a female body can realize bodhi. Question: 'If it is said that a female body does not realize bodhi, why does the Lotus Sūtra speak of the dragon girl becoming a Buddha and so forth? How is this resolved?' The interpretation says: nevertheless, that dragon girl also transformed into a male and only then became a Buddha; it was not with a female body that she became a Buddha. The above five sections altogether constitute the first [topic], presenting the essence of bodhi.
