論云「又非女身能證無上菩提」者，何故《法華》說龍女成佛等？云何通？義曰：然彼龍女亦變成男然後成佛，非以女身而成佛也。

Regarding the treatise's statement, "Furthermore, it is not possible for a female body to realize unexcelled awakening": Why then does the *Lotus Sūtra* speak of the dragon girl attaining buddhahood and so forth? How is this resolved? The doctrinal explanation is: That dragon girl also transformed into a male and only then attained buddhahood; she did not attain buddhahood with a female body.
