基云：菩薩化物欲令證大涅槃，不可直為說道，故先為人天之行，人天之行名先所應作法也。
Ji states: When the bodhisattva transforms beings wishing to lead them to realize great nirvāṇa, he cannot preach the Path to them directly, so he first presents practices of humans and devas; the practices of humans and devas are called practices that ought to be done beforehand.
