利行中，泰云：言於自義諸善品隨下中上功能差別可勸導者，若於諸善法品自性成熟。下中上功能差別可勸導者，勸令修習。及由方便功能差別可勸導者，於現起加行方便功能差別可勸導者令修加行差別。於彼如彼者，於彼自性義，如彼方便而勸導之。

Under "beneficent practice," Tai says: "Regarding 'toward what can be exhorted in all wholesome categories of one's own welfare according to the functional distinctions of lower, medium, and higher': if in the category of all wholesome dharmas their intrinsic nature is mature, and they can be exhorted according to the functional distinctions of lower, medium, and higher, one exhorts them to cultivate. And 'toward what can be exhorted by the functional distinctions of expedients': toward the functional distinctions of expedients in currently arisen preparatory effort that can be exhorted, one causes them to cultivate the distinctions of preparatory effort. 'Toward that, as such': toward the meaning of that intrinsic nature, one exhorts them in accordance with those expedients."
