Among the four clauses, Jing says: "The first clause explains that the converting bodhisattva considers himself a teacher, while the converted bodhisattvas possess real virtues, but conceal their own goodness and therefore do not display the power of their own virtues, and so accept conversion. The second clause: not being another's common task-sharer while displaying common tasks; in order to save inferior sentient beings, they manifest among caṇḍālas, and even among dogs and so forth, taking birth among them. The third clause: there are bodhisattvas who are other common task-sharers and also manifest in their own category to share common tasks with others; that is, seeing that the roots of virtue received by those to be converted can still be shaken, in order to make them unshakable, they manifest to share common tasks. Or 'superior': although their stage of practice is equal, it is not yet fully perfected and has the possibility of regression, so they share common tasks and practice together with them."
