11.108

就初知世間中，有五；一、知眾生世間；二、知器世間；三、作八觀；四、作勝義人無我觀；第、五牒結。前中有二：初知世間於厭生死上昇出離不如實知。泰云：無漏道能斷生死名上昇出離，而諸有情於生死出離道不如實知也。測云：人天異生出下三趣名為上昇，三乘菩薩解脫三界名為出離。

Within the first, knowing the world, there are five: 1. knowing the world of sentient beings; 2. knowing the receptacle world; 3. performing the eight contemplations; 4. performing the contemplation of the ultimate non-self of persons; 5. restating and concluding. In the former, there are two: first, knowing that the world does not know as it truly is about being revulsed by saṃsāra, ascending, and departing. Tai says: The taintless path can sever saṃsāra, which is called 'ascending and departing'; yet sentient beings do not know as it truly is about the path of departing from saṃsāra. Ce says: Ordinary humans and devas leaving the three lower destinies is called 'ascending'; bodhisattvas of the three vehicles being liberated from the three realms is called 'departing.'
