Jing says: The various practices aroused before one has realized the Dharma realm are possesses of 'small and narrow performance'; being unable yet to leave faults behind, they are possesses of 'deficiencies'; their occurring at some times and not occurring at others is called 'undetermined'; prior to the grounds is the rank of ordinary beings, so they universally possess 'retrogression'. In the Pramuditā and other six grounds, their practices accord with the Dharma realm and are called 'vast'; leaving faults behind, they are possesses of 'non-deficiency'; constantly arousing various practices is called 'determined'; realizing the principle, they are possesses of 'non-retrogression'. The seventh ground possesses the first signlessness; the eighth ground possesses the second signlessness. From the seventh ground down, one merely arouses all practices within each single practice; from the eighth ground upward, one arouses all practices within all practices, and thus possesses 'immeasurability'. The culmination of effort in the seventh ground is adjacent to the eighth ground, so by extension it is collectively called 'immeasurable'.
