From here below is the second part, specifically explaining the cultivation of compassion in relation to the one hundred and ten forms of suffering. Within this, there are three sections: first, explaining the cultivation of compassion in relation to suffering; second, an incidental explanation of the meaning of great compassion; third, the concluding praise of the superior benefits of cultivating compassion. The first of these also has three parts: first, a general explanation of cultivating compassion in relation to suffering; second, questions and answers elaborately distinguishing the one hundred and ten forms of suffering; third, the concluding summary after the explanation. Within the distinction of the one hundred and ten forms of suffering, first fifty-five forms of suffering are explained through progressive numerical categories (numerical groups incrementing by one), and second fifty-five forms of suffering are separately distinguished through categories of nine forms of suffering; these two rounds are as explained in the Bodhisattvacaryānirdeśa. The first fifty-five contemplate the suffering of sentient beings, and the latter fifty-five contemplate one's own suffering.
