From "He, through such..." onwards, the ninth part explains the manifest practice of all worldly activities not shared with sentient beings. Jing says: "Being able to practice all activities identical to those of sentient beings while being distinct from the wondrous practices performed by bodhisattvas is why it is called 'not shared'; though the bodhisattva's wondrous practices are identical to the worldly, they are not of that nature, as extensively explained in the sūtras." Ce says: "Though dwelling in defilement, he is not defiled by or attached to it, hence it is said to be 'not shared.'" Below, under "The general meaning herein," he sets forth the similar practices manifesting identically to sentient beings referred to in that sūtra; the general meaning comprises eight: first, identical in activities of meritorious deeds; second, identical in gathering and supporting relatives and disciples; third, identical to ordinary beings in seeking and taking rebirth; fourth, identical to beginners in initiating and striving for the abodes of the three liberations; fifth, identical to those with faith and joy in the lower vehicle in subduing others; sixth, identical in the distinctive activities of experiencing the various desires; seventh, identical to non-Buddhists in turning back toward the Buddha; eighth, identical to worldly people in conforming to the minds of others and conforming to the great assembly.
