From "Furthermore, able to abandon..." downward, the ninth [section explains] the purity of roots of goodness. According to the Daśabhūmika Sūtra: "O Son of the Buddha, just as original genuine gold, fashioned into an ornament by a skilled goldsmith and bound onto the head or crown of the king of Jambudvīpa, cannot be surpassed by any other jewel-ornament of the people of Jambudvīpa; in this way, when the bodhisattva dwells in the Immovable Stage (Acalā-bhūmi), all his roots of goodness cannot be destroyed by any śrāvaka, pratyekabuddha, or even a bodhisattva of the seventh stage. The bodhisattva is able, by means of the great wisdom-light of this stage, to extinguish the dark hindrances of the afflictions of sentient beings." It also says: "Just as the Great Brahmā King, ruler of a thousand worlds, can at one time spread his mind of loving-kindness to fill the thousand worlds and also emit light to illuminate them everywhere; in this way, the bodhisattva dwelling in this stage can emit bodily light illuminating sentient beings in worlds as numerous as the dust motes of ten times one hundred thousand trichiliocosms, and can gradually extinguish the fires of all afflictions, causing them to attain coolness."
