First, as for "properly reflecting on the names assigned by your parents... down to: does such conventional expression of names, concepts, and designations operate with respect to this existence?": relying on parents, teachers, and monks who assigned names for you, you immediately cling to a real self following this name. You should reflect: apart from the six internal sense-bases such as the eyes, is there a real self with its own intrinsic nature, or apart from the external sense-bases such as forms, or apart from both internal and external, or in between them, is there such an entity of a self? Within them, does such conventional expression of names, concepts, and designations of a self operate? Instructing such contemplation reveals that completely apart from internal and external sense-bases, no name of a self operates therein.
