12.45

第三辨修習菩提分法。言觀一切種菩提薩埵增上力故者，此明修覺分，緣菩提名覺，是所求境。薩埵此言有情，是所化境，又能求覺有情，又薩埵是勇猛義，勇猛求大菩提。

The third section analyzes the cultivation of the factors of awakening. Regarding 'due to the predominant power of contemplating all kinds of bodhisattvas': this explains cultivating the factors of awakening. Cognizing bodhi is called 'awakening' (bodhi), which is the object sought. 'Sattva' here means 'sentient being', which is the object to be transformed; alternatively, it means a sentient being who seeks awakening; furthermore, 'sattva' carries the meaning of 'heroic courage', heroically seeking great bodhi.
