13.266

又賴耶乃至非生因性者，景云賴耶是生煩惱因，聖道為不生因，轉依亦為不生生因，翻前可解。轉依望聖道但為增上緣及所緣緣，建立聖道非是因緣，故云應知但是建立因性非生因性。

Regarding '[Moreover, the ālaya ... ] up to [is not the nature of an efficient cause]', Jing says: 'The ālaya is the cause for generating afflictions, and the noble path is the cause of non-generation. Āśrayaparavṛtti is also the cause for non-generation's arising, which can be understood as the reversal of the former. Āśrayaparavṛtti, in relation to the noble path, is only an indirect condition (adhipati-pratyaya) and an objective condition (ālambana-pratyaya); it is not the primary cause (hetu-pratyaya) that establishes the noble path. Therefore, it is said that one should know it is only the nature of an establishing cause, not the nature of an efficient cause (janaka-hetu).'
